Year 9 Ceramics



Rolling a Clay Coil (not my hand!)
Notice how the coils have been moulded into round circles and then stacked up on top of one another 


Slabs of clay have been  cut out here. little marks are then scratched into the clay where they are going to be joined ( to add a bit of friction and grip).
Look at the pot of clay- this is called slip, it's just a watered down version of clay and is applied to the areas that need to be joined, it works a bit like glue- sticking at all together!

  2. The square pots were made using 6 squares of flat clay joined together to make a 3D cuboid. The round pots were created using a technique called 'coiling' -where long thin coil and gradually built up to make a pot. I will post some pictures to show you what I mean :)
